Hello!
Nicky’s career began in San Francisco creating denim stories, graphics and styling for Levi Strauss & Co. She later spent a decade determining trends and illustrating and designing accessory and apparel artwork for fashion and outdoor private label clients manufactured overseas. The invaluable experience gained also revealed the consequences of outsourcing at that level.
With a life-long love for collecting and wearing vintage, and influenced by the tried-and-true original workwear classics, Nicky developed her line of premium Bandanñas in 2016.
The humble and iconic bandanna has always been the functional, versatile staple of the American wardrobe. As the chief product in her line, Bandanña has been well received in the press and with customers alike. The designs reflect the influence of growing up in the American Southwest and are named for personally memorable towns.
Dedicated to sustainably sourcing domestic labor and materials, Made in USA will always be an important foundation in her manufacturing decisions.
Nicky's souvenir-style kitchen towels and hand-glittered animal notecards round out her categories with gifts of timeless charm.
A hard-working, Latina, creative entrepreneur her woman-owned business is based in Nicky's hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She also accepts custom assignments for brands and special projects. See illustration, lettering and other creative commissions in the Portfolio tab.
PERSONAL
I grew up among the magical collections of Alexander Girard in Santa Fe where my mom was a curator at the Museum of International Folk Art. After spending 24 years in the California Bay Area I’m happy to return to familial roots, and the rich art and culture of New Mexico.
